Life's Mistress

Memory
Fades, As the etching of his face in her heart
Love
Weeps, As they trace a way back to start
Pain
Bleeds, As time slowly drips on the scars

          Reflection
Stays, As she moves on with her day
          His silence
Cries, what his words wouldn’t say
          Atonement
          Laughs, As it furthers away

Reverence
Retreats, As she was severed from her soul
Redemption
Prayed, As yet another day unfolds
Darkness
Crimsoned, As her destiny they told

Tear of blood from her wounded eyes,
Rolled the clock to back in time,
Frail joy in shades of grey
         Reveries of life snatched away

As into ashes smoked her lust
She found her peace in the dust
In the flickering light of her last sight
She thought of all that she had might

A dream too big she had dared
Defied his love and life they shared
His last Goodbye, pitied her in distress
Oh she had chosen, to be Life’s mistress!
